Please rest assured that all paid registrants will receive a full refund as a result of the conference cancellation. For those who registered online, the refund process has been somewhat delayed due to the high volume of conference cancellations being processed through Cvent. As soon as we are notified by Cvent, we will post an update on CTEBVI's website and social media, and you will then receive your full refund accompanied by a conformation email within 48 hours.
If you or your district sent a check as payment of registration, you will receive a refund check in the full amount. Vendors will also receive a full refund. CTEBVI appreciates your patience and we hope to see you next year in Burlingame, CA at the San Francisco Airport Marriott Waterfront Hotel.
As a reminder, please remember to cancel your 2020 conference hotel room reservation.
Because of the Coronavirus crisis and the ongoing threat to public health it poses, it is with great regret that CTEBVI is cancelling our 2020 annual conference.
Many attendees fly in from across the nation and from Canada. We are so proud and grateful that many of our attendees are longtime supporters of CTEBVI, and of course many are blind or visually impaired. What this also means is that our attendees are among the groups most at risk from this virus. Organizations of all kinds have been forced to cancel gatherings and events and governments at all levels are urging this. CTEBVI has no choice and even if we had a choice, we could not in good conscience hold the conference this year and subject our members, exhibitors, speakers and all attendees to this risk.
For the first time in 61 years, we will not hold our annual Spring conference. This results in a sad hallmark for our organization. As difficult as this is, it brings to mind 60 years of volunteer presenters, of a program that is rich in content, and the recognition that over time, CTEBVI has fostered the best conference available nationally (and sometimes internationally) for transcribers, teachers, administrators, agencies, consumers, and families. Our exhibit hall has been part of the revolution brought by technology and is one of the most comprehensive and “hands on” in the field.
We explored possible postponement and webinars. In reviewing the work that goes into organizing and setting up our volunteer presenters, attendee and exhibitor schedules, and unknowns of the virus, postponement is an unrealistic solution. If you are a presenter and are interested in hosting a webinar from our conference content, please contact Grant Horrocks at firstname.lastname@example.org. While this cannot fully replace the information and camaraderie we share every year at the conference, it may be of some interest. And, of course you will continue to receive the CTEBVI Journal and our valuable source of links through “To Be Continued”.
Anyone who paid the conference registration fee or exhibitor fee may contact us at email@example.com for a full refund. If you have a hotel reservation please contact the hotel to cancel your reservation. If you have flight arrangements, please contact your airline. We are hopeful your ticket may be refundable or that you may get a credit on future travel.
According to the news, the virus is still spreading and we believe the danger to be real. We urge you to join us in following the recommendations of government and civic leaders who are urging steps to reduce the risk of infection.
Many members are thinking and asking about what they can do to support CTEBVI and our mission of advocating and serving special needs of individuals living with blindness or visual impairment. Stay involved. Visit our website. Read our Journals. Support our advertisers. Participate in a committee. If you are financially able to, please consider making a contribution of all or part of your registration fee as a tax deductible contribution to CTEBVI. And plan to participate in our 2021 Conference.
Any refund questions may be directed to Sharon Anderson at firstname.lastname@example.org
